Born in Dubuque, Iowa Christopher attended college at Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University)
and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and continued on to receive his Master of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He then went on to a distinguished career in Retail Security Management investigating criminal activities that affected his businesses and safeguarding their patrons and employees.
In 2014 Christopher transitioned to a new career where he could continue to help keep people safe and secure but this time financially and the Christopher Cottrell Farmers Insurance Agency was formed. As a resident of Belvidere, Christopher opened his agency in his adopted community and brought his own personal style to the insurance business.
Christopher believes in speaking plainly and ensuring that his clients understand the coverage options available to them. Knowing that insurance can be confusing and frustrating, Christopher reviews each client’s needs individually and helps develop the right coverage plan at the right price. This business model has resulted in one of the fastest growing Farmers agencies in Northern Illinois.
In his personal life, Christopher is a father of three girls and his free time is devot
ed to them. Currently that involves a lot of learning about Roblox, Minecraft and Littlest Pet Shop. It has also given him a great respect for people who work with hair as he perpetuates “Dad Hair” on his daughters regularly.
He also is a hobby woodworker, building a lot of the furniture in his home. His other hobbies include fishing and reading.
